Prenatal Yoga:  Yoga for Women in ALL Stages of Pregnancy
Saturdays July 14th - August 25th,  12:00-1:30 p.m.
No class August 4th
The Prenatal Yoga program at our studio offers a six-week long-class format featuring well-rounded classes for women at all levels of fitness in all stages of pregnancy.  Each class offers the following:
*Yoga postures most beneficial to the ever-changing pregnant body.  Postures are designed to open the pelvis, ease back pain, and reduce pressure on ligaments.  They also promote strength, stamina, energy, and balance and are antidotes common discomforts during pregnancy.
*Breathing exercises—a vital part of prenatal practice—invigorate, balance, and quiet the body/mind.  Various breathing techniques reduce blood pressure, heart rate, and muscle tension and counteract the harmful effects of stress, anxiety, and uncertainty.  Breathing learned in Prenatal Yoga can be utilized in all phases of pregnancy and labor, making it an invaluable tool.
*Deep, guided relaxation involving props (blankets, bolsters, eye pillows), light shoulder/neck/arm massage, soft music, and aromatherapy.

Additional benefits of Prenatal Yoga
*Prepares women physically, mentally, and emotionally for the birthing process.
*Strengthens the entire body with special focus on the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
*Can prevent and relieve backache, water retention, fatigue, and sciatic pain.
*Helps a woman feel creative, powerful, and in control of her natural, intuitive self. Supports a relaxed, positive state of mind and boosts self-esteem.
*Reduces adrenaline, increases endorphins, lowers blood pressure, eliminates toxins, and improves circulation.
*Class helps pregnant women meet and build community. Women share their stories and feelings in a safe and supportive environment.
*Babies benefit, too.  They receive increased amounts of endorphins and oxygen and are gently massaged by the mother’s movements.

Village Yoga
Thursdays June 21-July 26, 2012
10:30-11:30 a.m.
The concept of Yoga Village is simple:  It takes a village to raise a child, and part of raising a child entails the village grown-ups engaging with children in healthy, happy activities.

Finding time for family, exercise, and relaxation is challenging. In Village Yoga, a child-focused yoga series for adults and children, they’re all rolled into one.  Connect with other families through exercise and play: poses, movement, songs, games, challenge, fun, and quiet time.  Families find support for a healthier lifestyle and get to enjoy a holistic family-centered activity.  Bring yoga or exercise mats and water.  Dress comfortably.  Registration:  Pre-registration required.  Call 216-632-0816 or email pinklotusyogastudio@gmail.com to reserve your space.  Minimum enrollment for class to form: 10.  Maximum: 16.
Fee:  Resident:  $75. Non-resident: $85* for five weeks (no class 7/5)
