Yoga Nidra
An ancient meditation practice, Yoga Nidra helps restore physical, emotional, and mental health by way of deep, guided relaxation. In Yoga Nidra, (‘yoga’ in Sanskrit means ‘unity’ and ‘nidra’ means ‘sleep’), the body and mind are neither fully awake nor in a sleep state but, rather, are calm, still, and quietly aware. Yoga Nidra reduces stress, improves sleep, boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure, brings balance and harmony to the hemispheres of the brain and nervous system, promotes higher consciousness and inner peace, and helps us drop our unwanted behaviors and habits. Each workshop consists of light stretching to help prepare the body, a 45-minute Yoga Nidra session, and tea afterwards. Bring mat, blanket, and pillow. Minimum number of enrollees for this workshop to form: 4. Maximum class size: 16. Register online or contact pinklotusyogastudio@gmail.com or 216-632-0816. Deadline to register: February 8th, 22nd and March 7th .

Exploring Sivananda Yoga: A Special Pink Lotus Yoga Workshop
Created in the 20th Century by yoga master, philosopher, prolific author, and medical doctor Swami Sivananda (Dr. Kuppuswami), Sivananda Yoga is a comprehensive yoga system based on a strong scientific foundation. “Exploring Sivananda Yoga,” led by yoga instructor and musician Kyle Curley, will guide practitioners through all aspects of Sivananda’s incredibly well-rounded sequence, including breath, body, and relaxation exercises, and even the art and science of chanting.
The workshop opens with relaxation and then moves to breathing techniques and warm-up work, which includes the Sun Salutation. Following that, twelve classic, still postures, each of which augments and counterbalances the others, will be explored.
Throughout the workshop, Kyle will explain and sing traditional chants in the Sivananda sequence handed down through the generations. Participants will leave with a CD of chanting performed by Kyle as well as paper instructions for the Sivananda sequence. Included on the CD will be the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) chant, which is meant to accompany and rhythmically guide practitioners through the flowing posture series. Participants will learn how to utilize the chant so they can practice at home with the CD.
This workshop is open to all levels of experience, beginner through advanced. Since each person is unique, Kyle provides variations for the exercises and poses as needed. Original Yin: A Yoga Workshop
This workshop derives from Pink Lotus Yoga's founder and director Marcia Camino's ongoing research and training with pioneer Yin Yoga masters Bernie Clark and Paul Grilley. In this workshop, Marcia will lead students through a yin practice while sharing information about the philosophical and anatomical importance of this important style. Learn why and how Yin Yoga is not just stretching but is, rather, deliberate and controlled stress deep into the body that heals us where we tend to age and tighten: in the connective tissue (ligaments, tendons and fascia). Learn key breathing techniques taught by Bernie Clark. Learn a bit of key anatomy (Paul Grilley style) as well, and explore the confluence of mind-body-breath, which is sometimes unavailable to us, or more difficult for us to find, in fast-moving practices. A quiet practice, Yin Yoga is available to all levels and body types. Minimum number of enrollees for this series to form: 6. Maximum class size: 16. Register online or contact pinklotusyogastudio@gmail.com or 216-632-0816. Deadline to register: March 14th.
